newborn details

I've found that it's best to photograph newborns within the first week of life. Their little bodies are still used to being inside the womb, all webbed up in positions only a contortionist would be envious of. Because of this ease of movement I'm able to tuck her little tootsies all the way underneath her chest, and pose his body in curly, adorable fashions all while they remain asleep.
It's best to contact me before you give birth so we can get you on the schedule around your due date. We'll try to schedule the session within the first week of your little one's arrival to ensure the best chances of success. Beyond the first two weeks, newborns tend to stir awake much more easily, and become much less inclined to stay in position.

I will come prepared with props for several poses. I may also bring an assistant with me. Since I only use natural light when photographing newborns, I like to survey rooms in your home to suggest the best light to photograph your child. A typical session lasts anywhere from two to four hours, with regular breaks for feedings and mother and child time. Before the shoot, I recommend topping off your baby with a fresh feed and turning your thermostat up a touch since newborn shots are done in their birthday suits.
